Delaney Forestry is headed by Matt Delaney, who specializes in carbon offset projects and biochar. He holds a M.S. in forestry from the University of Illinois and a B.S. in environmental studies from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. He has led carbon inventories on more than two million acres of forestland and has worked on various forest carbon projects internationally and domestically.
Matt has consulted on some of the largest carbon offset projects in the world, including projects for clients such as American Electric Power, Duke Energy, Entergy Corporation, The Nature Conservancy, The Rainforest Alliance, Reliant Energy, the US Forest Service and Winrock International. His principal area of expertise is the North American forest carbon market, with a focus on the Air Resources Board (ARB) Climate Action Reserve (CAR), the American Carbon Registry (ACR) and the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). He also co-authored a forest carbon offset methodology for the ACR.
As a professional forester, Delaney has nearly 20 years of experience working with private businesses and non-profit organizations. He is an internationally recognized expert in conserving and managing forestland through voluntary market-based approaches, including forest carbon offset projects.
